How to Cash Out Crypto in Nigeria Without Using P2P
There is more than one way to turn crypto into naira in Nigeria. P2P marketplaces are popular, but they are not the only option. If you would rather not search through ads, compare dozens of traders, wait for someone to respond, or manage a marketplace order yourself, you can use a direct crypto trading desk instead.
That route is usually called OTC trading or direct crypto-to-naira trading. You speak to one desk, agree on the rate, send your crypto, and receive naira once the transfer is confirmed. For people who already know what they want to trade, it can be a much simpler process.
What does “cash out crypto” mean?
Cashing out simply means converting a cryptocurrency you already own into money you can use outside the blockchain. In Nigeria, that normally means receiving naira into your bank account after trading assets such as Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum, Solana or BNB.
The crypto does not somehow become naira on its own. There is always another side to the trade: an exchange, a P2P buyer, or a trading desk willing to buy the asset from you.
Why would someone cash out without P2P?
P2P marketplaces are useful because they connect buyers and sellers directly. But they also put more of the trade process in your hands. You may need to compare advertisers, check completion history, understand payment instructions, open an order, monitor the timer and deal with an appeal if something goes wrong.
Some traders prefer a simpler route, especially when they trade regularly or are moving a larger amount. A direct trading desk gives you one conversation and one confirmed rate instead of a list of public ads.
How direct crypto-to-naira trading works
The process is straightforward:
1. Check the current rate. Start by looking at the rate for the asset you want to trade. De'Exchange publishes current rates on the rates page, so you have a reference before you start a conversation.
2. Tell the desk what you want to trade. Send the asset and amount. For example, “I want to trade 1,000 USDT” or “I want to trade 0.05 BTC.”
3. Confirm the final quote. The desk confirms the live rate and the estimated naira payout. Crypto prices and liquidity can move, so this confirmation matters even if you checked the website a few minutes earlier.
4. Receive the correct wallet details. Confirm both the wallet address and the network before sending. This is especially important for USDT because the token exists on several networks.
5. Send the crypto and wait for confirmation. Once the transfer appears and has the required blockchain confirmation, the trade can be settled.
6. Receive naira. Your payment is processed to the account details confirmed for the trade.
OTC does not mean the rate should be hidden
One reason people are cautious about direct trading is the fear that a private quote may be arbitrary. It should not be. A serious OTC desk still needs a market reference.
Rates can differ slightly because of market movement, liquidity, asset type and trade size, but you should still be able to ask what rate you are getting before you send anything. That is why we show today's rates publicly and confirm the final rate again before a trade starts.
Which crypto can you cash out?
That depends on the trading desk. At De'Exchange, the main supported assets include Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum, USDC, Solana and BNB. You can see the current list on our crypto trading page.
If you hold another asset, ask first rather than sending it to a wallet address intended for something else.
Is cashing out through a direct desk faster than P2P?
It can feel faster because there are fewer steps on your side. You do not need to browse ads or wait for a marketplace order to match. But the actual settlement time still depends on things such as blockchain confirmation, the asset being transferred and the details of the trade.
The better question is whether the process is clear. Before you send, you should know the rate, expected payout, receiving network and what needs to happen before settlement.
What should you check before sending crypto?
- The current rate. Do not assume yesterday's rate still applies.
- The exact wallet address. Compare the first and last characters before you confirm the transfer.
- The network. TRC20, ERC20, Solana and BNB Smart Chain are not interchangeable.
- The payout amount. Confirm what you should receive in naira before sending.
- The contact channel. Make sure you are speaking to the real trading desk, not an impersonator.
What about large or regular trades?
This is where direct OTC trading often makes the most sense. A reseller or regular trader may not want to repeat the full P2P marketplace process every time. With a direct desk, you can ask for the current quote, confirm your amount and move straight into the trade.
Large trades can also have different liquidity considerations from small ones, so it is sensible to confirm the amount before assuming a website rate applies unchanged to any size.
P2P and OTC are both tools
There is no need to treat one method as universally better. P2P gives you a marketplace with multiple counterparties. OTC gives you a direct relationship with one desk. The right option depends on how much control you want over the process, how often you trade, and whether you prefer searching through offers or confirming one quote directly.
